A well-designed JSON API should be intuitive, predictable, and resilient. Follow these industry standards when creating endpoints.

1. Consistent Casing Convention

Pick one casing standard and enforce it across all endpoints. While JavaScript uses `camelCase` and Python often uses `snake_case`, `camelCase` is the prevailing standard for modern public REST APIs.

2. Standardized Error Response Envelopes

Never return raw plain text or unstructured error strings. Always return a consistent error object: ```json { "error": { "code": "RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND", "message": "User with ID 402 does not exist", "details": [] } } ```

3. Use Plural Nouns for Resources

Use `/api/v1/users` and `/api/v1/orders` rather than verbs like `/getUsers` or singular names.
